What Are Collaborative Cards?
LeavingCard/TogetherCards cards are collaborative - someone creates a card, signs it, and then emails the card link out to a number of other people who then sign the card too. The end result is a beautiful card, collaboratively made by everyone.
Up to 250 Signatures?
Yes, that's the idea. Send the card link to up to 250 people, and they can all sign the card simultaneously, nothing gets lost and no one has to ask where the card is.
What happens if a signed card is more than four pages in size?
It's worth noting that our cards arrange themselves progressively as more messages are added. So whilst a card with a single message may use a large font, as more messages are added, the card regenerates using smaller fonts and different layouts. Add enough messages though and the card will spill over to 5 or more pages.
If you get to this stage, you have a very popular person on your hands! The eCard remains as you see it, but order the A5 printed card and pages five onwards will be sent to you in beautiful 'overflow' cards (see the image above)
Lastly the A4 card is always optimised at the point of purchase - so whilst your eCard shows 7 pages, they may all fit onto 4 pages of the A4 card, and if more cards are needed to print the card, you are not charged a penny more!
How Do I Create One?
Select your card and there will be a Create & Send This Card Now link on that page.
How Do you mean when you say I can 'Buy The PDF'?
It removes the link at the top of the card that allows you to sign the card - please see here.
What if the link to sign the card gets distributed to too many people or the wrong people?
Your Card Admin Console allows you to lock the card or regenerate the card web-address.
What does locking the card mean?
It means that no-one else can sign the card, even if they have the card web-address.
My card is locked and I didn't lock it!
You create a card, het everyone to sign it, and only at this stage do you pay for it (we do make this clear). Sometimes people buy the card first as you would do with a paper card, and then wonder why the card is locked. We lock the card to aovid the situation where the printed card order is made (card is immediately sent to the printer), someone else signs the card after this, and when the card purchaser gets the card, they are confused as to why that last message is not on the card.
If this happens to you, contact us, we will always fix this for you! Finally, you can always unlock the card manually, add extra messages, and send these as part of the eCard if you want to.
What does 'regenerate the card web-address' mean?
It means that the card's web-address will change - anyone who had the old address will no longer be able to view or sign the card.
What if someone leaves an inappropriate message?
Of course you will be careful to whom you send the card web-address for signing, but when a message is left on the card, you are notified by email (you must validate your account to receive emails).
What does 'validate my account' mean?
When you register with the site, you will give us your email address and create a password. We will send an email to the address you have given and this email will contain a link which you need to click on. This 'validates' your account and tells us that we are able to communicate to you via email. (Please check you spam/junk mail folder if you can't find the email address we send you).
Why can't I choose where my message is put and which font is used to write it?
Our collaborative cards are a bit of fun. Also, some of our card designs rely on certain fonts. We have decided to keep the process simple, so whilst you can't select the font, we do hope you will love the end results.
Is it possible to have cards mailed to a US / EU address?
Unfortunately, we are not shipping to the US /EU currently. This is something we are looking to add in very near future. Please bear with us.
For now, you have two options:
- Send the recipient an e-card.
- Have the card delivered to an address in the UK, and then post it yourself to US / EU.
I am unable to check-out or pay for my card!
Many work places block our payment site which is why we ask if you could pay by logging into your account from a non-work device or maybe a personal device, like a mobile phone.
Apologies for this - it's outside our control.
Does everyone who sign the cards also have to register with you?
No - only the one creating the card needs to register with their email address. This is primarily to validate the newly opened account. We do not ask others for their email address.
Is there a limit to the length of the message that can be added to the card?
We have a fairly sophisticated algorithm that we use to layout the messages on the card. We chose a limit of 250 characters as we thought that it should be enough to capture most messages.
How do I know whether people are signing the cards and can they all sign it together?
Every time a person signs the card you will get an email notification confirming this. There is no limit to the number of people that sign the card at a time. (You must validate your account to receive emails).
